Theft Charge: On 06/03/2014, police charged Carl L. Banks, 34, Ballard Drive, in connection with the theft of money from a victim.
At approximately 6:18 P.M., an officer met with a complainant on Ballard Drive who reported that she had enlisted the aid of Banks to withdraw money from an ATM. The victim asked Banks to drive her to a local ATM at which time she provided him with her ATM card and PIN number to withdraw money for her. Their initial attempts to retrieve money were unsuccessful and they pulled out of the drive thru. Banks then returned to the ATM on foot for another attempt. He returned and advised the victim that the money still could not be obtained.
Later in the day, the victim checked her bank account and found that $430.00 in cash had been withdrawn from her account via an ATM transaction.
Banks was located and interviewed by the investigating officer, after which he was cited for Theft by Unlawful Taking Under $500 and released. The money was not recovered. (1327/448)
Banks was previously arrested on 05/25/2014 for felony theft from vehicles in the Norwood Drive area. He was released on the same date on a $1000.00 unsecured bond.
Drug Charges: On 06/04/2014, police charged Patricia A. Mays, age 44, Hays Fork Lane, for several drug offenses following her involvement in a traffic accident.
At approximately 12:25 P.M., an officer was dispatched to Chris Drive to investigate a single vehicle, non-injury accident. Upon arrival, the officer identified Mays as the driver of the vehicle and determined that she was under the influence of intoxicants. She was taken into custody for D.U.I. and a search of her purse produced 12 Klonopin pills, 20.5 oxycodone pills, and 8 alprazolam pills.
At the time of the accident, Mays’ mother and a 10-year child were in the car with her.
Mays was charged for the following offenses and lodged in the MCDC:
– Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree
– Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree (2 counts)
– Wanton Endangerment 2nd Degree (1331/425)
